We've just launch two fantastic new teas, available to buy right now - a zesty Phoenix Dan Cong, and a beautiful first-flush Long Jing from Hangzhou.
The two new teas are our first from outside the Fujian Province. The Dan Cong is native to Guang Dong province, just south of Fujian, while the Long Jing (also called Dragonwell tea) is from Hangzhou, an ancient city north of Fujian.
Sourcing exceptional teas is extremely important for us - it's why we don't stock hundreds of average teas purchased through wholesalers, and why we're so proud of these two new additions.
The Long Jing is from Zhu Ji City just south-west of Hangzhou. It's processed pre-Qing Ming, which means it was picked in very early April, before the traditional Tomb Sweeping (Qing Ming) festival. It has an earthy and vegetal taste, like freshly cut-summer grass. Our farmer, Mr. Chen is one of the top growers in Zhu Ji City.
The Phoenix Dan Cong is simply a fantastic tea - we were literally stunned the first time we sampled the complex taste of this oolong from Guang Dong. It's a lightly processed tea, with a mix of dark and light coloured leaves which return to green when brewed. The farmer Mrs. Huang said of this tea, "this tea is quite unique, because it carries so many different tastes in just one tea - sweet, lemon, bitter and a little bit of the rich, roasted taste all in one".
If you want to try out these teas, you can find the Dan Cong here, and the Long Jing tea here.
