Tasting notes

This variety has a sweeter, crisper taste than usual. Brew it with approx. 90 degrees water, around 4-7g for each person. You should taste a little cleansing/tingling sensation around your palette as you drink it.

Our customers say…

"My eyes are well and truly opened. The Iron Buddha tea you've sent me is something quite different from Chinese teas I've drunk in the past. A whole lot more fragrant and full of flavour. Min River Tea Farm, I salute you. "

Green Tea Taster from £7 »

Iron Buddha (tie guan yin) is grown in the mountainous areas of Anxi County in southern China. It's an 'oolong' tea (wu long), which means it is part of a family of teas which can be found in Fujian, Guang Dong and Taiwan provinces. Oolong teas are not always green - in fact, our red tea The Big Red is also an oolong tea.

Iron Buddha is hugely popular in China, with a refined taste that is ideal for relaxing with friends or impressing important visitors. For tea beginners, it's the perfect starter tea as it really defines what green tea should look, smell and taste like. This variety of Iron Buddha is slightly unique, with a crisp and refreshing edge that typical Iron Buddha teas don't share. The Chinese call this taste tuo suan or xiang suan.
